This week saw a trip out to Paris to cover Liam and Co.’s October edition of their growing Paris Founders Events series. I covered an event in a smaller location last summer and am really pleased to see the Rude Baguette fostering a growing community of startups, VCs, and everyone in between.
The backdrop for the evening’s festivities was a formidably sized auditorium on the lower level of the Palais Brongniart. With low ceilings in the entrance hall and the bar area, which also included underfloor lighting, I knew there would be some fun shots to be had.
I’ve seen a great number of pitch sessions, and this one had many elements of the others. I do like Liam’s format of pitch, pitch, interview, pitch, pitch, talk, pitch, pitch.. which acts as both a pitch session and information sharing, without either becoming monotonous. If I’m honest, there were a few pitches that weren’t quite ready for the stage the the Founders Events can put them on. On the bright side, I did see a pitch whereby I was ready to fork over my cash there and on the spot.
Jason McDonald from Stringcan Interactive brought cookies from America. Yay! There wasn’t half enough food at the networking. Boo. But the alcohol looked like it was flowing pretty well. Yay!
A great evening of pitches, mini-interviews, talks, and drink. The Rude Baguette has more extensive coverage on the pitches and networking.
Enjoy, and until the next shoot – Dan
