This was the first “imaging” focused conference I had ever attended, and to be asked to be the photographer covering the photographers was quite an honor. There’s always a bit of me that would love to simply sit in the audience and listen to the content, but try as I might, my mind is moving a mile a minute and I’m always finding a new angle, or interesting detail, or trying a different exposure, or, or, or…
The one talk of the day that stood out to me above all others was Evan’s conversation with EyeEm co-founder Flo Meissner and Narrative, CEO & Co-Founder, Martin Källström with both having some interesting views on where the future of photography is headed.
While the passion for perfection in images will never die within me, I have to admit that spending the day around these photographers, particularly those with a focus on technology, made me really think about the art of photography. In the past few years, cameras, even “entry level”, bodies and lenses have gotten to the point where there’s really nothing technical left about the industry. The cameras will do it all for you. Toss a decent amount of Lightroom and Photoshop proficiency in there and you can practically call yourself a pro. So while it was an inspiring day, it was also one that left me with more questions than answers.
Enjoy, and until the next shoot – Dan
