The latest Heisenberg Media gig saw me en route Paris to cover Rude Media‘s The Connected Conference. This was the inaugural outing in conference format for Liam Boogar and Trista Bridges, and by all accounts, I think they did a stellar job.
With an “Internet of Things” over arching theme, The Connected Conference saw the likes of Samsung VP & Innovation Fellow, Luc Julia, ARM Head of Emerging Technology, Gary Atkinson, and French Deputy Minister for Digital Affairs, Axelle Lemaire.
No one likes a bad experience. And what’s the first method of avoiding one? Planning! I particularly enjoyed the timing of The Connected Conference. Liam and Trista timed the event to revolve around a comfortable pace for Parisian natives, while at the same time giving Londoners a chance to hop the Eurostar, and attend both days of the event with the need to stay over only one night in an accommodation. Well played Rude Media.
And I must admit, I was happy to see the stage a color scheme that was chosen. Many months ago, Liam sent over an email asking my input on what makes for a damn fine looking stage, and if I had an examples of shots to show him. Upon entering the venue, I was greeted to a dramatic dark toned backdrop and plenty of overhead lighting. Thank YOU Mr. Boogar! And as you can see from the shots below…the combo is perfect!
The speakers dinner was held in an artist studio just above a small bar and dance hall just around the corner from the Louvre. As expected in France, the food was excellent, and the wine was free flowing. I particularly enjoyed the intimacy of this small conference, and had the feeling that all of the speakers really got a chance to get to know each other a bit, which at these mega-conferences, often doesn’t happen.
For a first outing, well done folks. Looking forward to next year’s instalment.
Enjoy, and until the next shoot – Dan
